How it works

The whole process, with nothing hidden

What a distributor is, how we are paid, what the paperwork involves, and the things we will never do.

What a mutual fund distributor is

An AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor holds an ARN (AMFI Registration Number), issued after passing the NISM Series V-A certification exam and completing the Know Your Distributor process. A distributor helps you complete the process of investing and explains how mutual funds work in general terms.

This is a different, separately regulated category from a fee-charging professional who provides personalised recommendations. We do not charge you a fee, and we are not registered in that category.

Five steps

  1. 01

    Talk

We start with what the money is for and when you will need it — not with a product. If the honest answer is that you should build an emergency fund first, that is what we will tell you.

  2. 02

    Complete

We guide you through KYC: the documents, the Aadhaar and PAN requirements, and the CKYC and KRA process. This is where most first-time investors get stuck, and where a second pair of eyes saves the most time.

  3. 03

    Understand

We explain the options available within the distribution model, what each one costs, and the difference between direct and regular plans — before you choose, not after.

  4. 04

    Invest

The investment is made through the regulated mutual fund infrastructure. The money moves from your bank account to the fund house, and the units are held in your name.

  5. 05

    Review

We stay reachable — for service requests, for questions, and particularly for the difficult market days when stopping feels urgent.

How we work

How we are paid

When investments are made through regular plans, the mutual fund house pays the distributor a commission. That commission is already accounted for within the scheme’s expense ratio — it is not an extra charge added on top of what you pay, and we do not bill you separately.

Direct plans of the same scheme carry no distribution commission and generally have a lower expense ratio. The difference is typically under one percentage point a year, and over a long holding period it compounds.

You should know that before you invest rather than discover it afterwards. We have written the full comparison, including the honest case for choosing a direct plan and not using us at all.

Where your money actually sits

Your investment is held by the scheme, under SEBI regulation, in your own name. It is not held by us, and it is not mixed with the fund house’s own money. Money moves from your bank account to the fund house; redemptions are credited only to your registered bank account.

We never take custody of your money at any point. If anyone in this industry asks you to hand over cash or transfer funds to them personally, treat it as a serious warning sign.

What we will never do

  • Take your money in cash, or into our own bank account
  • Hold, custody, or have signing authority over your investments
  • Guarantee or imply a return of any kind
  • Name, recommend or rank a specific scheme on this website
  • Display a fund house name or logo without their written approval
  • Manufacture urgency to push you into a decision

Mutual Fund investments are subject to market risks, read all scheme related documents carefully.
